What is MyPrehab?

It converts nine validated clinical risk instruments into a personalized, multimodal prehabilitation prescription — covering aerobic conditioning, resistance training, inspiratory muscle training (IMT), nutrition, and psychological readiness. The goal is to reduce surgical complications and hospital length of stay.

Is MyPrehab a replacement for my surgical care team?

Accepted Answer

No. MyPrehab is a clinical decision-support tool. It does not replace your surgeon, anesthesiologist, or care team. All recommendations are based on published, peer-reviewed instruments and should be reviewed with your provider.

What surgical specialties does MyPrehab support?

Accepted Answer

MyPrehab currently supports eight surgical specialty modules: orthopedic, cardiac, thoracic, general, bariatric, oncology, plastic, and pediatric. Each module activates specialty-specific instruments and prescription adjustments on top of the universal nine-instrument screen.

Is MyPrehab available as a mobile app?

Yes. MyPrehab is available on iOS and Android in addition to the web platform. The mobile app includes the full exercise library, progress tracking, AI coaching, and provider report sharing. A one-time app download is available for $9.99.

How is my Preop Risk Score calculated?

Accepted Answer

Your Preop Risk Score is a 100-point composite derived from nine validated instruments: RCRI (cardiac risk), mFI-5 (frailty), DASI (functional capacity), ARISCAT (pulmonary complications), Caprini (VTE risk), MUST (nutritional status), Mini-Cog (cognitive screening), ASA Physical Status, and AUDIT-C (substance use). Each instrument is scored using its published algorithm — no machine learning, no proprietary weighting.

How long does the free risk screen take?

The free composite risk screen takes approximately 8–12 minutes. No account is required. You will receive your Preop Risk Score and a summary of your domain-level results immediately after completing the questionnaire.

What is the Surgical Readiness Score?

Accepted Answer

The Surgical Readiness Score is a second 100-point composite that measures your progress through your prehabilitation program. It updates in real time as you complete exercises, log nutrition, and check in with the AI coach. The goal is to maximize your Readiness Score before your surgery date.

Are the risk instruments validated in peer-reviewed literature?

Yes. Every instrument used in MyPrehab is traceable to peer-reviewed literature. The RCRI was validated by Lee et al. (Circulation 1999), DASI by Hlatky et al. (Am J Cardiol 1989), ARISCAT by Canet et al. (Anesthesiology 2010), and so on. Full citations are available on the Evidence page.

What is the optimal time window for prehabilitation?

The evidence supports a 7–14 week intervention window before surgery (Barberan-Garcia A et al., Ann Surg 2018). MyPrehab calibrates your program duration and intensity to your specific time-to-surgery window. Shorter windows trigger a compressed, higher-intensity protocol.

What does a MyPrehab program include?

Every MyPrehab program includes a personalized aerobic conditioning plan, resistance training protocol, inspiratory muscle training (IMT) for pulmonary prehab, a nutrition optimization plan, and psychological readiness support. Programs are calibrated to your risk profile, surgical specialty, and time-to-surgery window.

What outcomes can I expect from prehabilitation?

Published evidence supports approximately 1.9 fewer inpatient days and up to 50% fewer pulmonary complications for patients who complete a structured prehabilitation program before major surgery. Individual results depend on baseline risk, program adherence, and surgical complexity.

Can I use MyPrehab for pediatric patients?

MyPrehab includes a pediatric surgical module. However, instrument applicability varies by age group. Providers should review all scores and recommendations before applying them to pediatric patients. The free screen is designed for adult patients (18+).

Is my data HIPAA-compliant?

Accepted Answer

MyPrehab is designed to be HIPAA-aligned. Data at rest is encrypted with AES-256; data in transit uses TLS 1.3. A Business Associate Agreement (BAA) is available for licensed practices on the Starter tier and above. This is a demo environment — do not enter real PHI.

How do I get a BAA for my practice?

BAAs are available on the Starter, Practice, and Enterprise tiers. Contact us at hello@athleticsmd.org with your practice name and NPI, and we will send a BAA for countersignature within two business days.

Question 15

What does the AI coach do — and what doesn't it do?

Accepted Answer

The AI coach explains your prehab plan in plain language, answers questions about your exercises, and provides motivational support. It does not calculate your risk scores, modify your prescription, or access your clinical data. All scoring and prescription generation is deterministic and clinician-reviewable.

How does clinic licensing work?

Accepted Answer

Clinic licensing gives your practice access to the full MyPrehab platform under your brand. Licensing tiers include Founding Partner ($7,999/yr), Center of Excellence ($14,999/yr), and Flagship ($29,999/yr). Each tier includes a provider dashboard, patient management tools, outcome reporting, and a BAA.

Question 17

How do I access the provider dashboard?

Accepted Answer

Provider dashboard access is available on the Starter tier and above. After subscribing, you will receive login credentials and onboarding instructions by email. The dashboard supports up to 50 active patients on Starter and up to 250 on Practice. Enterprise is unlimited.

Question 18

Does MyPrehab integrate with EHR systems?

Accepted Answer
